Deductible Applied

This is a patient due amount according to the patient’s contract with the carrier. The patient must pay the doctor for this amount.

One of the most frequent inquires we receive is from Medicare patients. The typical comment is “I never had to pay a deductible before.” The Medicare deductible is rarely covered by supplemental insurance since it is so small. It makes sense, the insurance company intends to make a profit so if the deductible was covered, the premium for the plan would go up by the amount of the deductible plus 40 or 50%. The patient needs to be encouraged to pay the deductible and to contact their supplemental plan if they have questions about the deductible.
