Why didn’t my
insurance cover this?
A message appears on the patient
statement indicating the reason the service was
not covered. The reason on the statement is the
same reason given by the insurance carrier.
Typical reasons for non-coverage are deductible,
co-insurance, and not covered by plan. It is the
patient’s responsibility to pay the doctor for
these items. In general, insurance plans do not
pay 100% of services. Patients should contact
their insurance carrier if they have questions
about their coverage. The patient’s benefit
booklet also details coverage for different
types of services. On occasion, the insurance
carrier may have made an error, the patient or
policy holder must contact the insurance carrier
to inquire about benefit application. |
